National Service Scheme (NSS) was started by the Government of India in 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi with the intention to inculcate a sense of social responsibility, consciousness, self-motivateddiscipline, and respect for labor among the students associated with higher education.
Students can also make use of their free time and leisure to do interviews with real situations, so that their personality develops.
National Service Scheme Unit in Ujjain Polytechnic College is working under the guidance of Vikram University, Ujjain since 1988, in which there are 2 types of activities –

1. Routine Activities
2. Special Camp Activities

In regular activities, volunteers do service work in the organization on every Saturday-Sunday and government holidays. For which rs 10 on each volunteer and rs 8650 in a year is given by Vikram University, Ujjain to spend.

After working 120 hours in 1 year and a camp and 240 hours service in 2 years, one gets B certificate and becomes eligible for C certificate. On making a project report on any one service work and passing the written examination, they get C certificate.

For setting up special camps for seven days in God Gram, rs 64 per day for each student but for maximum seven days rs 450 per camper and rs 22500 for 50 children are given by Vikram University, Ujjain.

In Red Ribbon Club, throughout the year, programs like rally, essay, objective question, painting, group discussion, exhibition, lectures are done for which ₹4000 is given by District Hospital, Ujjain.
